Product Review: KinniKritters Animal Cookies
Animal cookies seem to be a staple of life. Well, my life at least. Coming from the background of being a Kindergarten teacher means that animal cookies will be forever linked with school. Most of the teachers I knew kept a package of animal cookies on hand in the classroom. They are a great help to lessons, perfect for snack time (and a great blood sugar boost while the kids were at recess :)
They are also one of the things I missed immediately when I went gluten free. Hey, it’s the little things, right?
In celebration of back to school time, today I am going to highlight KinniKritters Animal Cookies from Kinnikinnick Foods. KinniKritters are incredibly cute and have all the fun and convenience of gluten filled animal cookies. They even have a bit more detail than a lot of the animals I’ve seen. They are the perfect way to bring the edible zoo back to gluten free classrooms and lunch-boxes everywhere.
Now, an animal cookie connoisseur like me knows that there are two types of animal cookies. One type is crispy and only mildly sweet. The other kind is sweeter and a bit softer (though still crisp).
KinniKritters are the sweeter type of animal cookies. They are vanilla flavored and taste great. The texture is wonderful, making it hard not to munch them by the handful. They remind me a lot of the McDonald’s cookies I used to get in Happy Meals as a kid.
Kinnikinnick Foods makes their gluten free animal cookies very allergy friendly. They are dairy/casein free, egg free, trans fat free and, of course, gluten and wheat free.
The only thing I can complain about with KinniKritters is that the box is fairly small. (Remember I think in terms of classrooms.) It is an 8 oz. package that contains approximately 88 cookies. The serving size is pretty large (8 cookies) with only 2 grams of sugar per serving... Okay, I guess I can’t really complain about anything :)
KinniKritters Animal Cookies are a great addition to the school supply list this year. They pack well in lunches and are a good “just in case snack” for your child’s teacher to keep on hand.
