Product Review: Udi’s Gluten Free Au Naturel Granola

Posted by: Marissa on Aug. 19, 2010

Today marks the last of the reviews from the fabulous Udi’s box. I’m kinda sad about it because now my house feels a bit Udi-less, never a good thing. This is where I get to be totally cliche and point out that this gluten free product may be last, but it is not the least... I really grabbed the items to review in no particular order :)

Last week I introduced you to Udi’s Gluten Free Vanilla granola. Today we’re going to look at the nakey side of gluten free granola with the Au Naturel flavor. This granola is about as simple as it gets, nothing in it but Certified Gluten Free Oats, Wildflower Honey and Canola Oil. It is a very healthy snack that is also dairy free, soy free, egg free and nut free.

With all this freedom being advertised on the package, one has to wonder if there is any room for taste. It’s made by Udi’s, so of course there is! For the fact that there is nothing in this bag but oats and honey, I am amazed at the depth of flavor it carries. Udi’s Gluten Free Au Naturel Granola is lightly sweet, toasty and downright delicious in it’s simplicity.

The texture is lightly crispity crunchity. I love the fact that there are no tooth breaking hard chunks like I’ve had in some granola. I love adding dried fruit to it for both texture and flavor. The flavor of any fruit I add blends well with the flavor that is already in the granola.

Due to the fact that this granola is healthy, incredibly versatile, simple and fun to eat, I am happy to offer my recommendation for it. You can buy Udi’s Gluten Free Au Naturel Granola for around $6 for a 12 oz. bag.

I tried it and while I adore the Udi's bread and pizza crusts, the granola did nothing for me - I just tasted canola oil and salt. I'm sticking to my homemade granola w/ the bob's red mill GF oats which has got to be the easiest thing I make. I am grateful to Udi's for having granola - it just isn't for me.
