Product Review: French Meadow Bakery Gluten Free Yellow Cake
For my birthday this year, my mom bought me the cutest little cake I have ever seen. It came frozen from the store and thawed while sitting on the counter for a few hours. I really didn’t expect much from my cake. Experience has taught me that when it comes to gluten free cake it is always better to go for chocolate over yellow. I loved the thought, though, and eagerly sliced the cake into thirds to share with the other two gluten free members of the family.
Ease of Use
The cake comes frozen and fully decorated. It didn’t seem to take too long to thaw on the counter.
Appearance
This cake is small and beautiful. It features decorative mounds of white icing on a “single serving” sized cake. The cake is bigger than it looks. My third was plenty big enough to satisfy.
Taste and Texture
I was completely wowed by this cake. It is easily the best tasting gluten free yellow cake I have ever had, and I’ve tried a few. There was no funny aftertaste at all. It was sweet and lightly flavored enough to balance out the icing. The icing was a treat in itself. It had a wonderful vanilla-marshmallow flavor.
The texture was even more amazing than the flavor, if you can believe that. It had the moist and dense texture that I love about gluten free chocolate cake. I much prefer this over the crumbly texture of most gluten free yellow cake.
Versatility
This cake comes decorated and ready to eat. The only versatility to be found is by piping words on the top with more icing.
Overall Value
I have no idea how much my mom paid, and the cake is not listed on French Meadow’s website. It would take a pretty high price to diminish this product in my mind.

Thanks, Mom! I love it!
