Product Review: Blue Diamond Pecan Nut Thins
One of my favorite things about the holidays is the food. In particular, the gift sets with the summer sausage, cheese, gourmet crackers and the little bitty jars of sweet mustard that usually accompany them. I had a bit of withdrawal the first Christmas I was gluten free because I wasn’t sure of the ingredients in most of the items, and the crackers just mocked me.
This year, I have the snackables nailed down! I love the fact that companies are catching on to the gluten free label. It makes it very easy to find a summer sausage that I can eat. I pair it with some Alouette garlic and herb cheese (a must if you haven’t tried it) and, of course, Blue Diamond Nut Thins. The little jars of mustard are easy to find, but with this much flavor already I didn’t feel the need. Tonight, I am all about the Pecan Nut Thins.
Ease of Use
Just pop open the package and munch! Or set out on a tray for a pretty display at parties.
Appearance
These crackers are small and round. They have a shiny, brown color with darker speckles throughout.
Taste and Texture
I expected the sweetness of pecan to come through with these crackers, but it didn’t. Instead, you have a rich, full flavor that is subtle at the same time. They definitely have more of an earthy, nutty flavor than a rice cracker flavor.
The crackers are very thin and crispy. They have a light texture that is great to munch.
Versatility
This flavor will blend very well with just about any topping or recipe. I plan to take advantage of the color and set them up with a lighter color of nut thins for a pretty appetizer on Christmas.
Overall Value
These gluten free crackers ring in at under $3 a box. Not bad at all.
Rating
I love the subtle wholesome flavor of the pecans. This is good stuff.
