Today I was given the great pleasure of making and tasting a brownie mix from Authentic Foods. If you are new to the gluten-free world or have just not found a gluten-free brownie to satisfy that craving as of yet, your search is over!

Any of you that have followed my blog in the past know that I am not a huge fan of mixes. That being said, I can honestly say that this brownie is as good as any gluten-loaded version I have ever tried from a mix. Very rich, very chocolaty and is sure to satisfy any chocolate craving you could ever have, even on the worst of days! Lets just say that my 14-year-old daughter about had a heart attack waiting to taste these gooey, rich brownies.

As with all of the Authentic Foods packaging so far, they are clearly labeled and very strait forward. You know as soon as you pick up the package if it is a safe product for anyone with gluten, dairy or nut intolerance or allergy. I really appreciate that kind of labeling and packaging.

The mix is loaded, and I do mean loaded, with mini chocolate chips. So much so that the batter appears to be almost half chocolate chips when you are mixing it together. I knew as soon as I poured the batter in the pan that they were sure to be good. How could they not be with all of that chocolate in one eight inch square pan? So good!

The batter mixed up quickly and in about 30 minutes they were finished baking and set on the counter to cool. They do need to be allowed to cool completely, unless of course you are going to just eat them with a spoon right out of the pan. Yes, I'll admit the thought did cross my mind when they came out of the oven. Bad I know, I am showing my true chocolate lover self here. These brownies were the perfect treat for the end of a long week!

My kids absolutely loved these brownies, there has not been a single product come through my kitchen by Authentic Foods that has not been a winner. I am a make it from scratch kind of cook, my family is used to that kind of cooking and the Authentic Foods mixes have all been approved by my family. Even my gluten-eating husband has liked them.

You will end up with 16 2-inch brownies from this mix. In addition to the mix you will need the usual egg, oil, butter and water. The mix also gives the option of adding cinnamon and also gives a dairy free option for the butter. There is also a to die for version of adding nuts if you are able to have them. The addition of macadamia nuts sounded out of this world. I would have been tempted if we had any in the house, and if we did not also have a nut allergy here. Oh how I miss them!

I cannot say enough good things about Authentic Foods and their gluten-free mixes. Natural ingredients make it even more appealing to me. No, I do not work for them and they are not paying me to say this. I am a huge fan and will be buying their mixes in the future, I am most certain. Especially the brownie one!

Yes, they are THAT good! Go have a chocolate moment...make sure you have a glass of milk on hand, they are rich and delicious.

There is a gluten free bakery somewhat near to where I live and they make some awesome gluten free & nut free brownies, along with some of the best gluten free goods I have ever eaten. You can even order this stuff online. The bakery is called The Silly Yak and the website is: http://www.freshglutenfree.net/

Very cool! I'll have to check them out. Thanks! You should add the bakery to our "Locations" section.
