Got the grill ready?

Around here, the grill is ALWAYS ready! Rain or shine...sometimes even in the snow....we LOVE to grill. It seems though, that as we head into the nicer days of spring and summer, our thoughts go to grilling more often. We’ve already done quite a bit of grilling this year, and more is sure to come.
So, what is your favorite thing to grill? We grill it all here, from meat to veggies and even bread and fruit! I told you, we love our grill.

Burgers are always a favorite around here. We love to add seasonings, chopped onion, garlic, you name it, to our ground beef. It’s so good! To finish off that burger, we love the usual toppings, but often opt for a bit of a twist like a special burger topping or sometimes even BBQ sauce. Adding a slice of fresh grilled pineapple is always a great addition to a burger with BBQ sauce on it.
Looking for some tasty sides to go with that burger? A garden fresh macaroni salad is quick and easy to whip up. An old favorite, baked beans are another winning side, but do take some planning ahead. Try grilling a foil packet of Italian seasoned potatoes, if you start them before the burgers, they’ll be ready when the burgers are finished. So tasty!
Looking for a good bun to go with those burgers? There are many on the market, some good and others not so much. If you have a favorite, make sure you have plenty on hand for this season’s grilling. If not, try using your favorite gluten-free bread recipe. Shape buns in English muffin rings or something similar. I’ve even used aluminum foil rings with good success. Bake them as you would the bread, but keep in mind that they won’t take as long to bake.
Another tip is to use my flat bread recipe. I’ve used English muffin rings for round “buns” and have also just cut squares about the size of our burgers. It’s a bit of a different texture from traditional buns, but we love it! Make the flat bread and add some chopped onion for a different flavor, much like the onion topped hamburger buns you can buy in the supermarket, only better because you made them and they are gluten-free.
Get creative! Great grilling, as with anything, starts with a bit of planning, creativity and a love for great food. Use fun marinades, fresh ingredients and have fun with it. An awesome grilling season is just beginning! Make it amazing and enjoy every minute of it. Just think of all of the wonderful flavors that can come from your grill!
Are you hungry yet? Happy grilling!
