This is not so much a recipe, but rather a different way to make a baked potato something special! It takes just a few extra minutes to make a plain old baking potato something super special and super tasty. No exact measurements here, just ingredients to taste.

Prep time 10 minutes
Cooking time 60-70 minutes
Servings varies

Ingredients

Baking potatoes (enough to feed your family, about 1 small potato or 1/2 large potato per person)
Butter, melted (about 1 tsp per potato for small potatoes)
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Granulated onion powder, to taste
Granulated garlic powder, to taste
Basil, to taste
cheddar cheese, about 2 Tbsp per potato
Parmesan cheese, about 2 Tbsp per potato

Instructions

Scrub potatoes and pat dry. Take a sharp knife and cut your potato into thin slices, being careful not to cut all the way through your potato. You want the slices still attached on the underside of your potato. Gently fan your potato out as much as you can without breaking it apart. Place your potatoes into a lightly greased baking dish. Pour melted butter over potatoes and sprinkle with seasonings, being careful to get the seasonings in between the slices. Leave the cheese off until the end of the baking time. Bake your potatoes in a 400 degree oven for 1 hour or until done. Once they are fork tender, sprinkle on the cheese and return them to the oven until the cheese has melted.
