These can be made nut free by using sunflower seed butter, have no corn syrup in them and contain good for you oils. So easy to whip up and have on hand for those times you need a portable snack on the go. Make them to suit your personal taste!

Cooking time
Servings 8

Ingredients

1/2 cup nut or seed butter of your choice
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 cup gluten free oats
1 cup your choice of ingredients: coconut, sunflower seeds, nuts, dried fruit, sesame seeds, toasted pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Melt together the first three ingredients either in a sauce pan or in the microwave. Once melted, remove from heat and add the oats. Then add the one cup of other ingredients. Make sure you are using a total of a cup, any combination of ingredients, but the total should not be more than a cup. Spread into a greased 8-inch square pan, or line the pan with parchment paper or plastic wrap for easy removal. If using chocolate chips, sprinkle them on top and press them into the granola bars lightly. Refrigerate for a couple of hours to set up. Once set, cut into bars. You can then wrap the bars in plastic wrap individually for easy portability. Easily adapted to whatever flavor combination you desire.
