Such a wonderful dish to pull out of the oven. Hearty and so good on a cold fall or winter day. Served with a loaf of bread or biscuits and you have a complete meal! So easy too!!
| Prep time | 20 minutes |
| Cooking time | 30 minutes |
| Servings | 8-10 |
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (ground chicken, turkey or pork can also be used)
1/2 onion chopped
2 quarts green beans
2 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
Onion and garlic powder to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
Mashed potatoes (enough to cover a 9×13” baking pan), I’ll often use leftover mashed potatoes
1 to 2 cups grated cheddar cheese (depending on how much your family likes cheese)
Instructions
Brown the ground beef (or your choice of meat), add chopped onion and cook until onion is soft. Add green beans, tomato sauce, sugar, onion and garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pour into a greased 9×13” baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes. Cover potatoes with grated cheese. Bake for 30 minutes in a 375 degree oven, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
